these are two liminal pieces inspired by some famous pins on pinterest that i made to get back into blender after a long long long break. before this i’d been deep in modeling and rigging for animation for years but got super burnt out on it, so this was the first time I started messing with grass particle systems and atmosphere.

these pieces really sparked something in me and made me realize you can be your own little god. instead of building people and moving their arms and legs and mouths around, you can just make small worlds and make them scary or beautiful.

this was also when i was first learning post in davinci resolve, which i barely knew what it was at the time. up to then i’d only done basic hsv adjustments in after effects, so the color grading and all the other tricks for making something look otherworldly or nostalgic were brand new to me. there’s dehancer film grain on these too, and i think it comes through.

i still really love these pieces even though they’re just recreations of pinterest art. they pretty much represent an artistic awakening for me.
